The decision follows consultations with the NDC’s National Executive and Parliamentary Leadership.

Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, who served as Speaker of the 8th Parliament, has had an illustrious career in Ghana’s legislature. Representing Nadowli for decades, Bagbin has held key leadership roles, including:
- Minority Leader
- Majority Leader
- Speaker of the 8th Parliament
President-elect Mahama highlighted Bagbin’s wealth of experience and exemplary service, stating that his leadership will be instrumental in guiding Parliament through this pivotal period in Ghana’s democracy.

The President-elect expressed confidence in Bagbin’s ability to foster an effective and efficient Parliament that prioritizes oversight and accountability.
