Kevin Taylor Alleges Links Between Sammi Awuku and Key Actors in Election-Related Killings

Kevin Taylor of Loud Silence Media has alleged connections between Sammi Awuku and individuals accused of involvement in election-related killings. As investigations into the 2020 and 2024 deaths commence, these claims raise significant questions about accountability and the integrity of Ghana’s National Security.

Kevin Taylor of Loud Silence Media, renowned for his bold and often controversial approach to journalism, has made serious allegations concerning the 2020 and 2024 election-related killings in Ghana. His latest revelations provide a detailed account of individuals allegedly involved and their alleged connections to prominent political figures.

Background Allegations

According to Taylor, the individuals linked to the incidents include “Double,” Ernest, and Osei—men described as initially involved in landguard activities and bouncer jobs in Accra before being recruited into National Security under the leadership of Sammi Awuku, a senior NPP figure. Taylor alleges:

  1. Initial Connections:
    • The trio—Double, Ernest, and Osei—lived in Nmai Dzorn, Accra, and were involved in landguard activities.
    • They reportedly became close to Sammi Awuku after he moved to the area, eventually becoming part of his inner circle.
    • Before their recruitment, they worked as bouncers at social events and popular nightclubs such as Twist Night Club in Labone.
  2. National Security Recruitment:
    • Taylor claims that Sammi Awuku recruited Double as his driver in 2014, who in turn brought the others into the fold.
    • Following the NPP’s 2016 electoral victory, the trio was allegedly provided with National Security tags and access to police and military uniforms.
  3. Involvement in Violence:
    • Taylor accuses this group of being involved in the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence, as well as the Techiman South election-related shootings during the 2020 general elections, which led to the deaths of eight Ghanaians.
    • Before the 2024 elections, Taylor claims their rogue behavior created tension within National Security, with legitimate officers allegedly afraid to confront them due to their loyalty to Awuku.
  4. Post-Election Activities:
    • Ernest reportedly relocated to the UK before the 2024 elections.
    • Double, after allegedly acquiring a chieftaincy title in Nsawam, also moved his family to the UK to escape potential prosecution.
    • Osei, described as illiterate, was assigned as a bodyguard to Akosua Manu, an NPP parliamentary candidate for Adenta, who lost her bid in the 2024 elections.
  5. Alleged Links to High-Profile Figures:
    • Taylor alleges that Osei occasionally provides security for former President John Agyekum Kufuor at his Aburi residence and for a businessman known as Isaac Kofi Boateng (alias Kofi Boat), who owns a cold store in Tema.

Implications of the Allegations

Kevin Taylor’s claims come amid growing calls for accountability following President Mahama’s official directive to the IGP to investigate the election-related deaths. If substantiated, these allegations could have significant implications, including:

  • National Security Integrity: Questions surrounding the recruitment and oversight of personnel within National Security.
  • Political Accountability: Potential legal and political repercussions for those implicated in rogue operations and election-related violence.
  • Judicial Review: A possible reopening of unresolved cases involving the 2020 and 2024 killings.

Response to Allegations

Neither Sammi Awuku nor the NPP has officially responded to Kevin Taylor’s claims. As the police commence investigations into election-related deaths, these allegations may add to the scope of inquiry and intensify public interest.
