President Mahama Appoints Justina Nelson as Acting CEO for MIIF

President Mahama appoints Ms. Justina Nelson as Acting CEO of MIIF to lead Ghana’s mineral revenue management with over 20 years of banking expertise.

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Ms. Justina Nelson as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF), effective immediately. This pivotal appointment is expected to bolster the management of Ghana’s mineral revenues and ensure transparency and efficiency in the sector.

Qualifications and Experience

Ms. Nelson brings over 20 years of extensive experience in the banking industry, particularly in energy and commercial banking. She currently serves as the Group Head at Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited, overseeing operations in these critical sectors.

Her strong academic background complements her professional achievements:

  • Master of Laws in Corporate and Commercial Law – University of Ghana
  • MBA in Marketing – University of Ghana
  • Bachelor of Laws (Hons) – Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA)
  • Bachelor of Arts in Management and Psychology – University of Ghana

Mandate at MIIF

Under her leadership, Ms. Nelson will oversee the operations of the MIIF, which plays a critical role in managing income derived from Ghana’s vast mineral resources. She is tasked with ensuring these revenues are invested prudently to benefit all Ghanaians and contribute to national development.

President Mahama expressed his confidence in Ms. Nelson’s ability to lead the MIIF, stating that her vast experience and leadership skills would bring the necessary expertise to this important institution.

Her appointment is in line with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 21(2) of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund Act, 2018 (Act 978).
